So nice to meet you, I'm Jessica. I'm a stay at home mama to 2 1/2 year old boy/girl twins: R-man and KK. R-man is non-verbal and was diagnosed with Autism in January 2011. He gets intense intervention and follows a gluten-free diet; he is making awesome progress! KK is a spunky, energetic kiddo who has a thirst for knowledge. She loves to sing and dance and is determined to sit on the potty so she doesn't have to wear "underwears".
My house is never clean; my car is full of empty Starbucks cups and I'm sure pretzels and old sippy cups are hiding in the back seat. My idea of getting ready for the day is usually changing into a different pair of sweats and a hoodie- unless I plan venture out into the world. I tend to bleed espresso. Nap time is my favorite time of the day, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Sometimes I catch myself singing along to "Yo Gabba Gabba" or "Elmo ABC's", and I find myself watching those shows even after the kids are in bed. I'm not the kind of mama who can entertain my kids all. day. long.
Quality time with my hubby means catching up on our DVR list. Rare date nights usually include dinner and talking about R-man's therapy, KK's latest tantrum, and the consistency of R-man's dirty diapers (Hey, I'm just keepin' it real! ). The kids have taken over. Such is life.
I started this blog as a way to connect with other mama's. Mama's of multiples, mama's of special needs kiddos, mama's of a single kiddo, mama's who bleed espresso... all kinds of mama's. This blog is a blog where there is no judgement and I intend to keep it real. I know I'll never be up for the "Mother of the Year" award, and I'm totally ok with that. You should be too. Mommyhood isn't perfect and I don't intend to try to make it that way.
Oh, mommyhood! You definitely aren't what I thought you would be, but it has been an interesting ride so far.
